'She was completely covered in ice': Lucky 4-week-old kitten takes shelter under trash during snowstorm, gets saved by cat-loving family who warm up her body, soul, and heart by adopting her immediately

Sometimes, a sign can be all your traffic lights being green or finding some money in your pocket, but none of those are as clear as the meow of a cat that's about to be yours.

We're not here to question the Cat Distribution System, on the contrary, we're here to preach its purrfect powers of purrception. Because without the CDS, so many cats would be left outside, without families, struggling to survive. But that's not the case for our lucky, 4-week-old kitten below. Helpless, she took cover under a stray piece of plastic during a snowstorm. She became so frozen that her fur was completely covered in ice, the only thing left she could do was meow for help.

Luckily for her, a feline-loving family was out for a snow day hike and heard her cries. They found her, took her home, warmed her up, and fell in love with her tiny tortoiseshell purrsonality. Already having three cats, the mom was hesitant to adopt her at first, but like all of us, she couldn't say no to a tiny kitten who just wanted to be loved.

If this family hadn't taken that one turn that led them within earshot of her pawsitive pleas for anyone to help her, who knows what might have happened. It's very common for cat moms to be near their babies in the wild, which is why we're sure so many people asked her to go back and check. They often leave their kids somewhere while going off to hunt, hiding them to be safe from predators. Especially when you have a litter of kittens to take care of in harsh conditions, the moms struggle almost more than their kids. Purrhaps she couldn't save Elsa, and went to try and save the rest. We hope she's found before anything bad happens.

It's posts like these that make us tear up a little bit, for a meowltitude of reasons. It hurts our hearts to know that there are so many cats who need our help out there, and it lifts us up to know that there are so many people willing to help.
